About Laser Hair Reduction Treatment
Laser hair reduction targets active hair follicles with thermal energy, disabling hair regrowth. Using a state of the art 805 nm Diode Laser with built-in contact cooling, we ensure a comfortable experience across all skin types.
Key Benefits:
- Safe for all skin types and body locations
- Eliminates ingrown hair issues and razor bumps
- Saves time and expense compared to waxing/shaving
Laser Hair Reduction is a safe, reliable, and FDA-approved medical procedure to eliminate unwanted facial or body hair. The laser can be safely applied even over the most sensitive parts of the body, including the face, neck, chest, underarms, and bikini lines, offering a long-term alternative to endless salon waxing sessions.
Understanding Laser Technology
At Bliss Laser Skin Clinic, we utilize advanced laser platforms tailored to your skin and hair type:
- Diode Laser (800-810 nm): Features a longer wavelength that penetrates deeply into the skin, bypassing the melanin in the epidermis to target the hair follicle directly. This significantly reduces the risk of skin burns or pigmentation changes, making it highly safe and effective for all skin tones, including darker complexions.
- Alexandrite Laser (755 nm): Features a shorter wavelength with high melanin absorption. It is exceptionally fast and best suited for individuals with fair skin and dark, fine hair.
The Science of Hair Growth Cycles
To understand why multiple sessions are required, it is essential to understand the four stages of the hair growth cycle:
- Anagen (Active Growth): The follicle contains abundant melanin, making it highly susceptible to the laser beam. The laser is only effective in this phase.
- Catagen (Transition): The follicle shrinks and detaches from the growth center.
- Telogen (Resting): The follicle remains dormant for about 3 months.
- Exogen (Shedding): The old hair sheds and a new one begins to grow.
Because only a percentage of your hair is in the Anagen phase at any given time, a series of 6 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is required to achieve complete coverage and significant hair reduction.
Pre-Procedure Guidelines
To ensure maximum safety and treatment efficacy, please follow these guidelines:
- Avoid sun tanning or active sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
- Do not apply bleach, pluck, thread, or wax the target area for at least 3 weeks before your session, as the laser requires the hair root to be intact.
- You may shave the target area 24-48 hours before the procedure, as shaving leaves the root intact beneath the skin.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it painful?
Our laser handler has contact cooling, making the procedure highly tolerable, often described as a warm pinch.
Why do I need multiple sessions?
Lasers target hair in the active growth phase (anagen). Multiple sessions ensure all follicles are treated over cycles.
